Overwhelmed

Yesterday I got a call from my cousin, and he told me that my GMAT score is not very bad and its about the average at most of the Biggies, so he asked me to look at the few biggies too….Oooh !! At this point of time confusion is something that I need the least. But I see a point in his suggestion that I should at least apply to a few biggies even though I feel that I have a little chance, because otherwise I would never know how close (or how far) I was to making into those most coveted and prestigious MBA program. So I have decided to apply to Yale SOM, in the first round and biggest challenge now is to put up a convincing enough application package, but I feel I don’t have enough time for that, given the fact that I only have about a month before the round one deadline, and I no where near starting the application essays and haven’t even figured out my references!! Today I have asked for an appointment with my boss (project manager) hopefully if I am lucky then I would see him before the day break, but you never know because he is always so busy that sometimes I don’t even see him even for months.
My problems don’t end here, even if my boss agrees to give me a recommendation on such a short notice (about 15-20 days) the problem regarding the second references still persists, though I have talked to a professor back in my college about the recommendation, and he seemed too happy to give me a reco but everybody knows that the academic recommendations don’t count much in b schools, so need to find someone real good and that too in real short time. Though I am not sure if I could put up a application in such a short time, but there is a gut feeling inside me that is telling me to go for it, I don’t know whether to trust that or not but sure I am going to put up a fight, because things other than essay and reco are almost in place, GMAT and Toefl are done with and score have been sent to Yale, and I have ordered the transcripts from my university and would be getting then in a day or two, so all I need to do now I to work on the first drafts of my application essays and find a decent reference, and in any case if I fail to find a reference I could always fall back on my peers to give me a reco and the advantage of that is the you can get anything you want on that piece of paper ;-) Anyways enough for now, as I have to get started with my essays…….
